BEST radar detector

The BEST radar laser detector is relative to the features you like and need ... The Top 5 radar detectors are (in no specific order) the:

BEL RX65
BEL STi
Escort 8500 X50
Escort 9500i
Valentine 1

Do not rely on radar laser detectors 100 percent of time even with these. A lot of people use them and think they work because they don't get pulled over, but it's just luck. Police use instant on radar that gets your speed quick and radar detectors will pick it up too late to slow down. Always use a "rabbit" (follow another speeding car!!) A rabbit sets off instant on traps first so your radar can pick it up.

So, why even use a radar detector? I could do the correct speed 364 days of the year ... but all it takes is one ticket on that 365th day then the 364 days of good driving doesn't matter. So when the radar laser detector goes off, it reminds me to check my speed and get it back down if necessary. Since all I need is a little reminder, I use a cheap radar detector.

If you plan to use your radar detector to reduce the chance of a speeding ticket on the highway, you should understand the environment in which radar guns and radar detectors operate. Hills, trees, low vehicle profiles and traffic are your best friends.

Today, the main source of traffic revenue is moving toward automated red light cameras (rather than police radar guns). If you want to avoid red light camera tickets, consider adding a free red light camera database to your GPS. Save your money.

The best radar laser detector is "no radar detector." Learn to obey the speed limits, so you won't kill an innocent person.

detectors are tested

7 different radar detectors are tested against a LTI Ultralyte 100 LR speed laser gun to determine which radar(laser) detector is the best unit for alerting to a laser hit on your car. This test was done at 200m distance. Detectors tested: Bel STi-R remote, Bel STi, Cobra 9930, Escort X50, Whistler Pro-78, XTR-690, V1.

There are three bands of police RADAR. They are labeled "K," "KA" and "X."

Some RADAR detectors will pick up all three, some only get one or two. Some even detect Police LASER units.

They work by detecting radio waves in the frequency bands as labeled. If the unit is not transmitting, no detection. If the police car (undercover, etc) doesn't HAVE a RADAR unit, no detection. See?

As far as I'm concerned, they only have one use, and that's to help you break the law without getting caught.

detector detectors?

All detectors can be detected by what is known as a Spectre unit! Radar detector detectors (RDDs) are most frequently employed by police in areas where radar detectors are illegal. They scan for the frequencies leaked by your radar detector. RDDs can only indicate the presence of a detector, and cannot pinpoint your vehicle specifically unless you're the only one in the area of the RDD unit and your detector is powered on.

There are many ways to shield against RDD's.

1. Change the Lo leakage Frequency.
2. Shield it very heavily, with tin foil or other metallic conductors, which is why the STi Driver, and V1 are made of Magnesium.
3. Place the Lo leakage Frequency in a high harmful interference bandwidth.

N - Not detected by RDD
Y- Detected and distance it was detected in feet
